Everyone Has A Say

The logistics of sending out topics to the guest authors, their subsequent response to the topic, and adding visualization mean that it takes about five days to put a post together. I admit that when it comes to blogging I am somewhat Adult ADHD. Five days to me seems a bit long between posts.

In an effort to keep things moving along, I have decided to try something new. At first, I had thought about either myself or a guest poster writing about a particular subject but then I happened upon another idea. Why not turn over these in-between posts to the readership. So now the spotlight is directly upon you. Each of these posts will feature various topics some whimsical and some controversial. I hope everyone enjoys these posts and they will continue if enough of you like the idea.

This week, I have decided to tackle a pet peeve of mine. I do not care for it when people speak in broad generalizations. Whether it be race, creed, gender, or sexual orientation, we are more than just a part of a group. We are individuals with our own sense of identity. Sure there are some views that most all members of a particular group hold. This site explores those views. But we are all more than that.

Your topic for this post is, 'It makes me angry when people say that all members of my sex are .....'

Thank you in advance for your comments. Remember this post is your forum. Hope you enjoy!!!

I will start this out. I do not like it when people say that all men are dogs. I have never cheated on my spouse and to suggest that I am just a slobbering animal intent upon my next conquest is demeaning. I flirt and admire women , this I will admit, but I am a loyal husband and do not appreciate being told that just because I am a man then I am a dog.

I do not like that people assume that because you are a woman, you also love shopping. I loathe shopping, it's one of my least favorite things to do.

Yours is a good one Fuzz! Mine isn't as good, but it bugs me so I am gonna mention it. Everyone thinks I am the "legally blonde" type girl because I wear make up and stuff. Yes I have my dumb blonde moments. But I am not that type at all. I do not know fashion labels or designers or any of that stupid crap. I HATE THOSE TYPE OF GIRLS! I wanna die my hair purple and wear combat boots!

(Nice addition to the blog, Fuzz. You rock.)

It makes me angry when people say that all members of my sex are men. Just because you have a penis doesn't make you a real man--any male who abuses women or uses his power to hurt the helpless, for example, is no man at all.

I like this idea Fuzz!

It makes me angry when people say that all members of my sex are victims. I've known plenty of abusive women and the poor guys that put up with them are just as victimized as their female counterparts.

Even if the guys ARE chicks for not getting out. :-)

It makes me unbelievably furious when stupid, idiotic asses say that all women are over-emotional.
Are they frickin' CRAZY??!!
I am just in need of a little chocolate, and I also need for the people around me to back off with all their annoying nonsense and let me frickin' breathe!
Does anyone have a couple of Midol handy?

(This comment is just a joke. I am actually a gregarious, fun loving sweetheart whose emotions are balanced at all times.)

Good idea here, Fuzz.

It makes me angry when people say all member of my sex are irrational, weak, or hopeless romantics. EVERYONE is irrational sometimes, EVERYONE is weak sometimes, and EVERYONE is a hopeless romantic sometimes. And sometimes? EVERYONE is the opposite.

General comment: A few years back (actually like 50 years ago) a British sociolinguist named Basil Bernstein did a series of studies that focused on the fact that most people never break free from the "group identity" to an "individual identity" and theorized it is directly linked to how people communicate with each other and the actual words used in the communication. Fascinating study! I personally think the advent of the Internet and such technology as blogs help us to cultivate individual identity in a way absent from our history.

It drives me crazy when my gender is refered to as bitches. Just because I am a strong individual and speak my mind, it doesn't make me a bitch. But if you want to see me turn into one then just call me one.

It makes me angry when people say all men want are skinny babes with big boobs. This just is not true I love all women regardless of shape or cup size.

Siren you took mine but I have more! ;-)

Crazy D - my hero! Now if we could just get all men to think that way!!

Okay - my turn!

It makes me angry when guys see me reading a romance novel and go on about how they are 'SMUT' books when I cool care less about drooling over Fabio's throbbing member.

It also makes me angry when men say they work harder then I do because they do physical work and I just 'sit behind a desk'.

I hate that Navy Wives are categorized as sluts who can't wait for their husband to go to se so they can cheat on them! Even if they don't SAY it, I can see the thought register in the eyes of people I meet who aren't Navy Wives. It drives me batty! Yes, SOME women are sluts like that, but just as much can be said of some of the sailors who are married as well!! I've heard the stories of port calls, and the guys are just as guilty, yet the women are the ones who get scorned because we are "supposed to be" little Holly Homemaker crying our hearts out because Husband is out to sea and we can't LIVE with out them!!

Whatever....It's also the reason I try to stay "invisible" on yahoo. Because as soon as someone sees I am online, I get the "Is your husband out to sea? Are you lonely? let's fuck!" AAAAARGH! All because some dumb bitches like to cheat, I'm automatically approached for it too!

I'd like to reiterate Breezy's point and expand a little... I hate when people say that all women are bad drivers because we put on our makeup in the car! Excuse me?! I have NEVER put my makeup on while driving, except for the odd swipe of chapstick. This blatant stereotype drives me nuts! It assumes all women wear makeup AND it implies they are too disorganized to do it before leaving the house, besides the bad driving thing.

And if we're really such crappy drivers why is our insurance lower?

I actually am a bad driver, I think the fuzzy slippers get in the way. :)
I hate the way most guys think when they date a single woman with children. They make comments like "she is just looking for a daddy for the kids", or "someone to support her". Most single women I know with kids are strong women who support themselves, and do NOT want a husband, they just want a little satisifaction.:)

...obsolete. This is a bad time to be male. We are no longer appreciated for our manly qualities, because modern technology allows women to do the same things, just as easily. And they don't want sex--the first word a baby girl learns is "No!". And they can get pregnant without having sex. I'd be alot happier in 1908 than in 2008.
